Hey guys! We’re going to the big screen for the very first time!! This is a CRAZY leap of faith we’re taking for indie animation, and we couldn't be more excited. The hour-long grand final episode of TADC will be combined with Episode 8 and shown EARLY at hundreds of cinemas around the world from June 4th.
We’re furiously contacting theatres to get this out to as many places as possible. If it's not in a movie theatre in your location, respectfully call your local movie theatre and ask them to air! It might just work.
Also, a note from Kevin Lerdwichagul on the two-week gap between the theatrical and public releases:
Hey everyone,
Kevin, CEO of GLITCH here. I wanted to jump in and talk directly about the theatrical release of the Digital Circus finale, and it being two weeks before its YouTube release.
The reason we're pushing for this at all is because this one event has the potential to change how the entire industry views indie animation. If this works, if we get a YouTube animated series into thousands of theatres globally, it opens the door not just for us, but for many creators, many projects, and the future of original, creator-led storytelling.
To be blunt, getting to this point has been a massive uphill battle. The traditional film industry has never really done something like this before at global scale. Like a lot of the bets we've taken over the last 8 years of running GLITCH, it takes a bit of a risk to truly push into new territory, but we really believe it's worth it.
The two-week gap came out of a lot of back and forth. Theaters were originally asking for a minimum of a month. I pushed hard to get it down to just one week or less, but they weren't willing to budge that far. Two weeks was where we finally landed, and even that was apparently "unheard of" for them.
I get that it's not ideal for everyone, and I genuinely hear the frustration. But if this works, it changes the game for us and for a lot of other independant creators down the line.
I also hear those of you who are frustrated because there isn't a theater near you yet. We are working around the clock to fix that. We're currently in active talks with several theatre chains in many countries around the world. We're pushing for more screenings and more locations every single day. Also, we REALLY want to get into theatres in our home, Australia, trust me we do - we're just waiting for someone to respond to us.
For those of you who have been respectfully reaching out to your local cinemas, thank you. It is actually working. Those emails are the best leverage we have to show theaters that there is a massive audience waiting for this.
We're doing everything in our power to make this as accessible as possible while still trying to move the needle for indie animation as a whole. Thanks for sticking with us.

Hello, Murder Drones backers!
We come bearing news – big, small and in-between!
First and foremost: You are about to receive digital PDF links for both MURDER DRONES #2 (of 6) and a revised version of MURDER DRONES #1 (of 6)! You will see links to your PDF copies of both books in the inbox associated with your Backerkit account within the next 24 hours!
As many of you noticed (within seconds!), there was a typo in issue #1 concerning the usage of Thad's name. We apologize for the error! You'll see that this mix-up has been corrected in the updated copy hitting your inboxes shortly (and your graphic novel copies will definitely have the updated text, too).
Also, we’re working behind the scenes to add even more MURDER and DRONES to your MURDER DRONES comics and graphic novels. The standard American comic release is 20-22 pages per issue, and we’ve quickly come to realize that it isn't enough space to do true justice to Liam Vickers' amazing vision. Over the course of the coming months, you’ll see us adding even more content to upcoming issues (on top of the 30+ page HOME special we announced as a new, free addition to the campaign a few weeks back) to expand the pacing of each chapter – and, before you receive your graphic novel copies this November, we’re going to go BACK into issue #1 to add even more pages to the first issue. So please standby: UPGRADE IN PROCESS!
As such, we’re adjusting our release timeline for the MURDER DRONES single issue series as currently planned for comic shops (and the digital copies released to you here on Kickstarter) – BUT NOT BY MUCH SO WE CAN ADD MORE!
MURDER DRONES #2 (of 6) will now go on sale in comic shops on April 1st (one week later than originally slated), and the rest of the issues will move back accordingly, too. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE THAT THIS CHANGE IN THE SINGLE ISSUE RELEASE SCHEDULE WILL IMPACT THE TIMELINE FOR KICKSTARTER FULFILLMENT, WHICH IS STILL PROJECTED TO BEGIN IN NOVEMBER 2026.
In the meantime, huge thanks again for your massive support of MURDER DRONES through this campaign and IRL in comic shops around the world. Copies of MURDER DRONES #1 immediately vaporized from store shelves thanks to longtime fans and new readers picking up the issue, leading to one of the quickest sell-outs in Oni Press’ 30-year history. We then announced a second printing of MURDER DRONES #1, which also generated a huge response. It cannot be said: Thank you for passionate support of this series (and for letting us know when we screw up, too)!
In the meantime, if you have issues with locating your latest digital copies, we have created a handy-dandy bullet pointed list explaining who will get them!
- People who backed BEFORE the original campaign came to a close–October 14th–as they are eligible for the stretch goals.
- People who pledged for digital copies of the MURDER DRONES books.
- Also, don’t forget: This is just the FIRST chapter of the six-part Murder Drones adaptation that is being released as single issue comic books… We’ll be sending a new chapter each month before it arrives in comic shops around the world, and then we also send a complete PDF of the entire graphic novel once it has been completed as part of your campaign rewards.
- And if you absolutely cannot wait to get your hands on the comics in physical form, visit a local comic near you on Wednesday, February 25th when the first issue goes on sale!
That’s it. Four whole bullet points. As previously stated in Update #11, if you backed during the late-pledge period (between October 15th-January 20th) and did not pledge for a digital reward, you will not be receiving one, as you are not eligible for the stretch goals.
An email from Backerkit will arrive today, and in it, you’ll find a link to your own copy of MURDER DRONES #2 (of 6). You can click on the link, download, and read away! The links will only be available for 60 days before expiring.

Reposting content from elsewhere is allowed, but you MUST credit the original source. Include the (user)name of the original poster in the title and put a link back to the original post in the body of the post.
